Puncture Repairs Explained

Whether a puncture repair is possible depends on the tyre type, puncture location, and number of tyres. Run flat tyres, for example, cannot be repaired as it’s impossible to assess the internal damage. During the repair, we’ll inspect the inside and outside of the tyre, looking for sharp objects penetrating the rubber.

Slow punctures are a significant issue – drivers may not notice the damage until it’s too late. We can also only repair punctures that occur in the central tread. Not all punctures can be repaired. If the puncture has any of the following features, we recommend replacing the tyre:

  • Sidewall damage
  • Bulging
  • Exposed cords
  • Aged or deteriorated rubber
  • Bead damage
  • Secondary damage from the puncturing object
  • Faulty or inadequate previous repairs

Frequently asked questions.

Our most frequently asked questions.

Booking an appointment – be it for a tyre replacement or vehicle checkup – shouldn’t be difficult. Simply enter your vehicle details, choose the right tyres for your vehicle, and pick a suitable date. We’ll come to you, or you can drop your car off at the nearest service centre.
Alternatively, feel free to give us a call at 01352 710124. We’re always ready to provide free advice.

To check if your tyres are safe, use a 20p coin. If the inner rim is hidden, your tyre is likely safe with at least 3mm of tread. If you can see the outer rim, it might be less than 3mm and unsafe. You can also speak to one of our technicians for a safety check.

Whether it’s worth repairing a puncture depends largely on the size and location of the puncture in your tyre. Before proceeding with a repair, it’s advisable to have your tyres thoroughly checked by a professional technician.

The cost of a puncture repair can vary, so it’s advisable to contact us for accurate pricing details. Several factors can influence the cost, such as the type of tyre, the severity and location of the puncture, and any additional services or materials required for the repair.

The lifespan of a new tyre can vary significantly, influenced by both the type of tyre and how it’s used. Different tyres have different tread patterns and rubber compounds, which affect their durability. Factors like driving habits, road conditions, and maintenance practices also play a role in determining how long a tyre will last.
