Questions we're frequently asked at DMH Tyres

Do I need a new TPMS sensor every time I get tyres fitted?

- DMH Tyres Ltd

No. The sensor itself usually lasts several sets of tyres, and in most cases all that needs replacing is the valve service kit, which is the seal, nut and core that sit between the sensor and the wheel. Those corrode, and reusing them is what causes a slow leak and a warning light a fortnight after new tyres. Sensors do eventually fail once the internal battery goes, normally somewhere between seven and ten years, and we will tell you which of the two you are dealing with rather than replacing the lot. See our TPMS check.
